The only confirmed Switch game that is getting showcased during the upcoming Nintendo Direct is Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

The rest of the titles pencilled in for the Nintendo Direct February 2019 are a mystery – so there could be plenty of big surprises.

NINTENDO DIRECT FEBRUARY 2019 – RIDGE RACER

Last year rumours were sparked that drift racing king Ridge Racer would be making a return on the Nintendo Switch.

In February a Bandai Namco employee updated their LinkedIn page to say they were working on Ridge Racer 8 which was a Nintendo Switch exclusive.

The information came courtesy of Bandai Namco Singapore Studios’ lead designer Shawn Pitman.

His LinkedIn page at the time listed one project he was working on as “Ridge Racer 8 (Drift-based High Speed Car Racing Exclusive to the Nintendo Switch”.

There has been no official word on Ridge Racer 8 from either Nintendo or Bandai Namco.

The last Ridge Racer game was Ridge Racer Unbounded, released in 2012 on PS3, Xbox 360 and PCs.

But that game was developed by FlatOut developers Bugbear Entertainment.

If you’re looking for the last Ridge Racer game made by Bandai Namco, you have to go all the way back to Ridge Racer 7 on the PS3.

That was released in Japan in 2006 and in PAL regions in 2007.

Could the rumoured new Ridge Racer for the Nintendo Switch get confirmed during the upcoming Nintendo Direct?

NINTENDO DIRECT FEBRUARY 2019 – KINGDOM HEARTS AND FINAL FANTASY

Square Enix fans have been left wondering if a Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy announcement is scheduled for the February 2019 Nintendo Direct.

Shinji Hashimoto – the co-creator of Kingdom Hearts who also worked on the Final Fantasy series – on Twitter retweeted two posts about the Direct.

The Twitter activity by the Square Enix producer has sent fans into overdrive.

Rumours that have been sparked include Kingdom Hearts protagonist Sora getting added to Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

Or maybe a collection of Kingdom Hearts games is coming to the Switch? Fans will also surely be holding out hope for a port of Kingdom Hearts 3.

Back in 2017 Kingdom Hearts director Tetsuya Nomura said his team would consider porting Kingdom Hearts 3 to other platforms like the Switch.

But one of the most likely announcements is Final Fantasy 7 for the Switch finally getting a release date.

A recent Nintendo advert said Final Fantasy 7 was “coming soon” to the Switch – so it could possibly be getting an immediate release date with the Direct.

NINTENDO DIRECT FEBRUARY 2019 – STAR FOX GRAND PRIX

It was recently revealed that Retro Studios will be working on Metroid Prime 4.

But is that because the new game that Retro Studios have been working on for the past few years is finished?

That title is rumoured to be Star Fox Grand Prix – an F-Zero like racer set within the Star Fox universe.

If work on this rumoured title is almost finished, then it could be set for a big unveiling during the upcoming Nintendo Direct.
