Feeling like you’re at the bottom of the food chain? Niche will show you the ways to bring your species to the top. Using real life genetics, you’ll take charge of your species and face off against your natural enemies, be it your predators, illnesses, or climate!
In this turn-based strategy game, you will control a member of a species and breed with others to create new genes. Your goal is to keep yourself alive, but in a different sense. You don’t just keep one animal alive, but rather a family line, doing so by breeding with partners with positive genetic traits, fostering a stronger, faster generation over time. You’ll be able to see real genetic traits in action for those who are curious about the science behind it all!
You’ll be up against three major opposing forces. The first is your natural predator, which you’ll have to breed against to be able to fend it off. You’ll have to create something much stronger to compete against this force! Another natural force would be the climate. Perhaps your species does not fare well in the cold, or perhaps it cannot swim well and there’s water everywhere. You have to plan for these long term changes, hoping for mates with better swimming abilities. You could even get caught by an illness plaguing the biome! Such a quick sickness could ruin your species, so you’d be wise to keep your clan strong against it.
