Apple is giving its army of loyal fans more for a little bit less.
The US tech firm has just revealed its rebooted and much cheaper iPad at an event in Chicago and there’s plenty of reasons why Apple fans should be pleased.
At £319 this is officially one of the cheapest tablets Apple has ever made and don’t think cheap means it’s cutting back on features.
As well as its low price the iPad now includes support for the Apple Pencil stylus.
This ability to scribble on the screen was only previously available on the £619 iPad Pro but now you can get creative for half that price.
Advanced sensors under the screen even measure both pressure and tilt, and provide pixel-perfect accuracy helping to turn you into the next Banksy.
This budget 9.7-inch device also features Apple’s latest A10 Fusion brains which offer users 50 per cent faster graphics than its predecessor.
This should allow it to breeze through the latest apps and games without breaking a sweat.
There’s also a 10-hour battery life and the usual cameras for making video calls and posting pics on social media.
These clever cameras and powerful processor also allow this tablet to access the next generation of augmented reality apps which make games appear as if they are in the room with you.
“iPad is our vision for the future of computing and hundreds of millions of people around the world use it every day at work, in school and for play,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of Product Marketing.
“Our most popular and affordable iPad now includes support for Apple Pencil, bringing the advanced capabilities of one of our most creative tools to even more users.
“This iPad also has the power of the A10 Fusion chip, combined with the big, beautiful Retina display, advanced cameras and sensors that enable incredible AR experiences simply not possible on other devices.”
This new digital slate is going on sale right now with it landing on laps later this week.
You can pick it up in silver, space grey and a new gold finish with prices starting from £319.
If you want to use the iPad away from home there’s also the more expensive £449 cellular model which connects to the web without the need for Wi-Fi.
Express.co.uk is in Chicago and hopes too bring you a full review of the new iPad soon.
