Naga Munchetty shuts down Robert Buckland over coronavirus tests ‘people want realism!’

Munchetty probed: “So we want to talk about tests, not capacity, but tests are done and yesterday 52,429 were reported for the previous 24 hours. Is that target going to be met?”

Buckland explained: “Well, we will know when the results come out, but even if the target isn’t met we are well on our way but frankly we need more.

“52,000 isn’t 100,000, I know that. But we have more test centres, the MOD is setting up mobile testing and there will soon be home testing.

“If Matt Hancock hadn’t have given a target he would have been called unambitious, but him being brave is something we should acknowledge.”
