The 45-foot sailboat washed up on Melbourne beach in Florida, with no passengers seemingly onboard.
Locals deemed it a “mystery boat”, with no suggestion as to what happened to it.
Many think that it was washed up from Hurricane Irma, but with most of the boat intact, it poses many questions as to how it survived.
Even more creepily, whilst the equipment appeared to be rusted, a mannequin was also found onboard.
Palm Bay resident Deena McCollum told USA today: “It looks like a ghost ship.”
The vessel, called Cuki, was then found to be registered to someone from Key West who is currently serving time in jail according to USA today.
Tom Tobin, a charter pilot who lives in the area also told USA today: “What I find amazing is this sailboat stayed intact, two masts, and it rode that hurricane all the way up here from Key West.
“Earlier today when I was out here, there were two mannequins on board. They survived it, too. So to me, that’s incredible that they survived that journey in a Category 5 hurricane.”
The boat also has a crude “OK” spray painted on the side of the boat, suggesting it had been found and marked before washing up.
The US Coast Guard has been contacted to find out more information regarding its origin.
It’s just a small part of the devastation that Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Katrina have caused across the Caribbean islands and Florida.
Many of the residents barely had time to recover from the first hit before the second hurricane swept across.
