McDonald’s go POSH and launch new gourmet burgers – would YOU pay £5 for one?

The new range has given the classic burger in a bun a sophisticated makeover.

There are three new flavours to try, although unlike other gourmet burger vendors such as Byron or GBK, McDonald’s will not be offering a vegetarian option.

The Signature burger on its own it will cost £4.69, while a whole meal, which includes a side and a drink, will set you back £6.19.

McDonald’s haven’t announced exactly when the Signature Collection will be rolled out into stores.

However, keen fans can opt to sign up to their newsletter to be the first to find out.

The McDonald’s website is also listing exactly which branches will be getting the new collection, as for the moment it is only planned to roll out in selected stores.

The three new burgers are tantalisingly described on the McDonald’s site.

First to get a makeover is The Classic, which McDonald’s says is “made with a 100 per cent British and Irish beef patty topped with Beechwood smoked bacon, melted cheddar cheese, whole grain mustard mayo, ketchup, Batavia lettuce and red onions all served in a brioche bun”.

Next is The BBQ, which is the same patty and bun “served with smoky BBQ sauce, coleslaw, red onion, Batavia lettuce, Beechwood smoked bacon and melted cheddar”.

Finally, fans will be able to tuck into The Spicy, which contains “jalapeño slices, pepper jack cheese, Batavia lettuce, mayo and a spicy relish”.

Burger fans were delighted recently when McDonald’s delivery was finally made available in the UK.

Last month the delivery service launched across 22 locations in London and 10 restaurants in Leeds and Nottingham.

But burger fans nationwide can now order their McDonald’s favourites from more than 150 restaurants in 16 cities.

McDelivery on UberEats will feature McDonald’s breakfast, lunch and dinner and will available to locations within 1.5 miles of the participating restaurants between 7am and 2am in London, and 8am to midnight in other cities, seven days a week.

To get McDelivery, all you have to do is download the UberEats app, which is available on Apple and Android handsets.

McDelivery is currently available in selected cities, but if it’s currently not in your local area you can sign up to find out when it is coming to a McDonald’s near you on the restaurant’s website.
