Curtis came fourth in this year’s instalment of sun-soaked competition Love Island alongside 28-year-old Irish contestant Maura Huggins.
But the ballroom dancer, 23, started off in a couple with former air hostess Amy, 26, and the pair’s connection quickly grew culminating in them announcing their relationship status as “half” girlfriend and boyfriend.
It wasn’t to be though, as when the Casa Amor twist rolled around Curtis realised he’d been lying to himself and was forced to let Amy down upon her return to the original villa.
Eventually Amy decided to leave the ITV2 show and it wasn’t long before Curtis and Maura cemented their bond instead.
Last night fans of the ITV show eagerly-awaited Curtis and Amy coming face-to-face once more on the Love Island Reunion, but it turns out that the dancer actually spoke to the new Loose Women star ahead of the live programme.
During an interview with Christine Lampard, who was filling in for Lorraine Kelly on her chat show this morning, Curtis explained what happened behind the scenes.
Asked if it was awkward to see Amy on the show after so long, Curtis revealed: “I rang Amy on Saturday [before the show].
“I spoke to her already which was really nice. We had a great conversation, a quick conversation, how she’s doing, how I’m doing… I’ve got a lot of respect for Amy.
“She’s great, she’s amazing,” the guest enthused.
“It was fractionally awkward to start with,” Curtis then continued. I felt, I hadn’t seen her properly yet and I did have feelings for her.

Thankfully, it seems the riotous after party fun and games seemed to help ease everyone back into things.
“It was good. Later on in the after party it was nice, we got along really well,” Curtis added.
Of having a long-distance relationship, Curtis went on to clear up his current situation with Maura.
“Maura’s hoping to move to England, either London or Manchester, she doesn’t know just yet,” he said. “But Ireland’s so close, so easy to get to.
“So we can literally travel back and forwards. I work a lot in Ireland anyway.
“Maura’s family have welcomed me into their homes, so I’d never have to stay in a hotel.”
“I have noticed since I came out [of the villa], I’ve got so much closer to Maura,” the star grinned.
Last night’s reunion show saw Anton Danyluk and Molly-Mae Hague get into an awkward spat on the programme after it was revealed the Scottish contestant unfollowed the runner-up on Instagram.
Molly proceeded to beg Anton to reconsider but he decided to stick to his guns.
Love Island continues next year on ITV2.
