The Irishwoman completely outclassed German Nina Meinke before the bout was finally stopped in the seventh.
Taylor was a class above the German, who did not have the pop in her shots to cause her any trouble.
The London 2012 Olympic gold medallist will now fight in American in June or July before a world title shot later in the year in Ireland after she claimed the WBA inter-continental lightweight crown here.
Taylor said: “I was a bit critical of myself, I was a bit sloppy at times. I was expecting a tough fight, I’m delighted and it is a dream moment.
“My first of many titles, please God.
“I feel very strong and very good at this weight. I hope I can unify this division. I just needed to do my job. This is incredible to be on this stage.
“I was thinking the before this could be a great night but the best is yet to come. It’s great to win this title.”
Taylor looked far bigger than her German foe and was making light work of her in this lightweight contest.
The Irishwoman comfortably popped out here jab and made Meinke miss easily.
The German’s face had reddened by the end of the first round.
Taylor continued to dominate in the second round with Meinke offering little response to her far more accurate work.
Southpaw Meinke was lacking any power to threaten Taylor so the Irishwoman could tee off without any fears of what was coming back.
By the end of the sixth round, Meinke’s face was a mess but she bravely continued on.
Referee Howard Foster had seen enough in the seventh though as the swelling over her eye continued to grow and he waved it off.
