Allen continuously denied the allegations, and was never charged, but in 2014 the New York Times published an open letter from Dylan, maintaining that she had been abused and calling Allen “a living testament to the way our society fails the survivors of sexual assault and abuse.” In response, he gave the paper another lengthy refutation of the allegations.
