James Bond: Dwayne Johnson’s grandpa played THIS Bond villain opposite Sean Connery WATCH

The Rock stars in his latest action blockbuster Rampage and appeared on The Graham Norton Show last Friday evening to promote the movie.

During the interview his co-star Naomie Harris, who plays Miss Moneypenny in Daniel Craig’s James Bond movies, was asked for an

Afterwards Norton asked Johnson about his connection to the 007 franchise, and it turns out the 45-year-old’s grandfather Peter Maivia played a villain in 1967’s You Only Live Twice.

The Samoan High Chief and professional wrestler takes on Connery’s Bond in an epic fight scene.

Maivia throws 007 through a Japanese screen door, before the MI6 agent picks up a sofa (with incredible ease) to joust him.

But acquiring a samurai sword, The Rock’s grandpa tries to strike a grounded Bond, before 007 flips him over his head.

In the end Connery knocks out the henchman with a stone statue.

Last year the real reason Connery quit Bond after You Only Live Twice was revealed.

According the Telegraph, the actor thought Bond had become boring as the character hadn’t really developed since the first outing, 1962’s Dr No.

Tensions were seemingly rife on the Japanese set between Connery and Albert R Broccoli, the franchise’s producer.

It turns out their relationship became so bad that Connery would lock himself in his trailer whenever Broccoli visited the set.

This feud wasn’t the only thing to rile the Bond star, with his new found fame leading to him being followed by a stalker throughout the filming of You Only Live Twice.

He was even followed into a public restroom by Japanese photographers, leaving Connery furious.

The last straw was his salary of $ 750,000 (£589,000) with 25% of merchandise profits.
