ITV Good Morning Britain: Labour MP Chuka Umunna makes SHOCKING admission to Piers Morgan

The Labour Remainer claimed to have bottled his leadership ambitions three years ago for “family-orientated reasons” and that he did not regret the decision to not run against Jeremey Corbyn to lead his party. But ITV Good Morning Britain host challenged the Labour backbencher on his decision asking him if he would ever think of taking up the position in the future.

“And now you are where you are.

“You’re crying after the milk got spilt because you allowed it to be spilt.

“I thought you had a very good chance of becoming leader.

“There would have been a very different narrative to the Labour party had you become leader.”

Asked if he was ready to lead the Labour party, Mr Umunna replied: “I won’t be the leader of the Labour party.

“Jeremy Corbyn is the leader of the Labour party.

“I think it’s highly unlikely.”

But as the ITV host pointed out “that’s not never”, the Labour MP admitted: “I do not think I will ever be the leader of the Labour party.”

The Labour MP has been campaigning for a second Brexit referendum advocating in favour of the UK to remain in the European Union and thwart

In stark contrast, the leader of the Labour Party Jeremy Corbyn claimed he would seek to trigger a general election before March 2019 and only in the event of failing to get one he would consider advising his party to vote in favour of a second Brexit vote.

It comes as Prime Minister Theresa May faces a confidence vote in her party leadership after Sir Graham Brady received 48 letters required to trigger the vote.

Tory MPs will cast their votes between 6pm and 8pm on Wednesday.
