Her co-host Phillip Schofield alarmed fans when he revealed the mother-of-three called in sick and was replaced by showbiz reporter and self-proclaimed “X Factor reject”, Rylan Clark-Neal.
“We’ve got some news today as Holly is unwell and I’ve been left with the most unlikely replacement,” warned the 54-year-old, as Rylan stepped in.
After admitting he told bosses he’d rather present the show solo, he gasped: “Look at the height problem.”
“I was in bed an hour and a half ago,” sighed Rylan.
And Phillip wasn’t the only one fuming over Holly Willoughby’s replacement as Gino D’Campo lashed out at the 28-year-old as he was called to step up as main host.
“He’s been here for five minutes,” he cried.
Rylan hit back: “You go and make your tiramisu. When are you ever here on time?”
Fans were understandably worried for poor Holly, 36, and sent the host a flurry of well-wishes on Twitter.
“Hate that Holly is ill but hope she gets better soon, #ThisMorning just isn’t the same without her,” moaned one audience member, as another followed: “Please get well soon Holly!”
This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
