SUNDAY has proven to be one of the most explosive days in US Open history and plenty has been lost during the chaos.
Despite Serena Williams not claiming the title, she was the focal point of the day thanks to an explosive outburst.
Williams took aim at chair umpire Carlos Ramos after being penalised on three separate occasions and the entire world was divided on the stance.
Sadly the remarkable scenes took the shine away from 20-year-old Naomi Osaka who made history by becoming the first ever Japanese player to claim the US Open title.
Loud boos rang out as the trophy presentation got underway and all Osaka could do was hide her face from the crowd.

But also being lost in the fallout from Williams’ outburst was a heartwarming story of redemption of the highest order.
Fellow American female tennis player Bethanie Mattek-Sands completed the perfect fairytale as she claimed the mixed doubles crown with playing partner Jamie Murray, brother of Andy.
What makes Mattek-Sands’ story so remarkable is that a little over a year ago she was screaming in agony in the middle of the court after suffering a horror injury at Wimbledon.
The then 32-year-old fell to the court and sent cries of anguish around Wimbledon as her right knee buckled during a second-round match.
“Help me! Help me please! I need help please! F***!” she howled, as the horror incident played out on live TV.
The horror moment continued with Mattek-Sainds laying helpless on the ground as paramedics took a staggering 20-minutes to remove her on a stretcher.
It was a moment that left fans in attendance and those watching on TV in stunned silence as her harrowing cries rang out.
But today it was all smiles and celebrations as Mattek-Sands once again raised a doubles Slam title in stunning fashion.
Jamie Murray won his second straight mixed doubles title, after teaming with Martina Hingis in 2017, as he and Mattek-Sands rallied to claim the trophy.
Comprehensively outplayed in the opening set, the duo went down 2-6 before levelling the contest at one set a piece with a 6-3 second.
In the third and deciding set it went to impressive heights before the champions were crowned after claiming the decider 11-9.
Murray has become the first man to win consecutive US Open mixed doubles titles since Bob Bryan in 2003 and 2004.
The 32-year-old Murray played with Mattek-Sands for the first time in the tournament.
Prior to her horrific knee injury Mattek-Sands have won three straight doubles Grand Slam titles with Lucie Safarova after claiming the 2016 US Open, 2017 Australian Open and the 2017 French Open.
Her incredible return to the court came at this US Open and it was finished in the perfect way as her and Murray celebrated their remarkable victory.
After being handed the trophy Mattek-Sands was extremely emotional when discussing her road to recovery and once again becoming a Grand Slam champion.
“I got a little emotional out there. I had an amazing team supporting me all the way through,” she said.
“Going from not being able to get myself out of bed last year to play in this finals, I mean, really, I don’t care what anyone tells you.
“If you’re too old or you’re too young, you’re too big or you’re too small, you haven’t had enough opportunities or you’re still waiting for yours: You can do anything when you put your mind to it. Go out there and choose your attitude, choose happiness every day, no matter what, and big things will happen.”
