Graham Norton's anguish at 'embarrassing' chat show: 'We've RUN OUT of guests'

The 54-year-old TV presenter told how The Graham Norton Show no longer has any celebrities left to book.

For some chat show hosts this would be the ultimate goal to achieve, but for Graham, it’s an “embarrassment”.

Speaking to Express.co.uk and gathered audience, Graham said: “Honestly, the chat show is kind of an embarrassment now!

“People used to ask me who I wanted on and I’d say Madonna or whatever. But they’ve all kind of done it now. So I’ve sort of run out.”

Trying to work out the small list of stars yet to make an appearance, he explained: “We’ve never had Brad Pitt. We’ve never had Angelina.

“Separate cover of course now. Probably best or it would be celebrity Jeremy Kyle… ‘What do you hear Angelina saying?’ That was more Oprah. ‘What do you hear Brad saying?'”

It comes as Graham revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Catherine, could soon be making an appearance on the show.

Explaining why the programme “still works” after all these years, he continued: “I think meeting people is still the most interesting think you can do.

“It’s like a first date. First dates are brilliant. Fifth dates are like torture. It’s like ‘I’m done. I’m done, I know everything about you!'”

He added: “I think that’s why the chat show works for me because it’s like it’s always a first date. A slightly odd one sided first date.

“These people don’t have any interest in me. By date five they’d be like ‘So, what is your name? Do you do this show often?'”

The broadcaster’s debut novel, titled Holding by Graham Norton, is available now.

The Graham Norton Show is available to watch on the BBC iPlayer.
