Ghost Recon Wildlands Review round-up UPDATE following PS4 – PS4 Pro games comparison

Ghost Recon Wildlands is out now on PS4, Xbox One and PC and many critics have had their say on Ubisoft’s latest title.

While Ghost Recon has reached a respectable score of 76 on Metacritic, the user scores are less flattering. Based on 357 ratings submitted so far, Ghost Recon Wildlands reviews have reached 5.9 on PS4 user scores.

Gamingbolt recently did a comparison of the new Ubisoft title on PS4 vs PS4 Pro, revealing that the game runs at 1440p on the PS4 Pro while playing on a 4K TV.

Away from the improved visuals on both 4K and HDTVs, it was also noted how performance varied on the different consoles.

It was also noted that there were frame rate drops during random situations on PS4 Pro, with the Gamingbolt comparison pointing out: “The funny thing about these drops is that they occurred during a totally random situation. We were just merely driving a vehicle and took a sharp turn and the game slowed down.

“But as we said, these instances were quite rare and may not be experienced by every player. The Pro version also benefits from faster loading of world assets which means pop-ins are drastically reduced along with better texture filtering and shadow effects.”

To help you make the decision on whether to purchase the game, the Express.co.uk gives a review round-up of what critics think of Ghost Recon Wildlands, out now on PS4, Xbox and the PC.

Ghost Recon Wildlands review – 7 / 10 – Gamespot: “One unsurprising benefit of the open environment are the myriad avenues for infiltration into any enemy stronghold. No matter how fortified a four-sided base is, there is always a backdoor, whether it’s a broken fence and a convenient stack of boxes next to the outer wall. Finding and using these alternate entrances can be as satisfying as any frontal assault.

“Despite the country’s vastness, it’s a mixed blessing that you don’t need to visit every region to take down El Sueno. Whether you take the most direct route to the boss or you systematically cross off every underboss and lieutenant first, you’ll confront a rogues gallery of diverse personalities, whether that’s a social media savvy Santa Blanca evangelist or an American military ex-pat who found purpose in El Sueno’s cause.”

Ghost Recon Wildlands review – God is a Geek 9 / 10: “It’s amazing just how impressive Wildlands is, both mechanically and technically.

“The weather conditions are gorgeous; thunderstorms on the horizon look stunning, and the red sun reflecting off the wet ground another small but surprisingly nice visual effect.

“I’ve had no real framerate issues, and for saying this world is so big, I never noticed any texture popping whatsoever. Ubisoft Paris has made a fantastic game, from the depth of customisation and wealth of missions, right up to the excellent co-operative experience.”

Ghost Recon Wildlands review – PlayStation Lifestyle 8.0 / 10: “Though far from perfect, Ghost Recon Wildlands is one of the most effective franchise reboots in recent memory. It manages to build upon the key squad-based mechanics that set the series apart, while not feeling the need to pander to the established fan base.

“The result is a fantastically realized open world that legitimately feels like it could be a real geographic location. Now that I’ve had a taste of the new Ghost Recon, I couldn’t imagine going back.”

Ghost Recon Wildlands review – Gamespot: “In the 10 hours I’ve spent on the road to liberate Bolivia of El Sueño’s rule, I’ve unlocked 20-percent of the map. As I’ve slowly made my way through the hit list of underlings, I’ve been curious about the risks of sticking to the critical path, and whether there’s such as thing as being underleveled in Wildlands.

“That said, it’s been easy to take brief detours to earn extra experience and skills, thanks to the added efficiency of my teammates, AI-controlled or otherwise.

“Whatever path my journey takes, I know it will involve more diversions to earn extra abilities, the takedowns of the boss’ lieutenants, and the elimination of El Sueño himself, which I estimate will take an additional 30 to 40 hours. Stay tuned for our full review in the coming days.”
