At the end of the last season, fans saw Cersei Lannister (played by Lena Headey) become ruler of Westeros after defeating most of her enemies with wildfire.
However, with Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) sailing towards King’s Landing and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) being proclaimed the King in the North, a huge battle is imminent.
And with just days to go until the start of the penultimate season, Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) has revealed which Stark member she thinks deserves the Iron Throne.
“I think the Stark that should rule Winterfell is Sansa because she deserves it and she’s a natural born leader. But I don’t think she really wants the Iron Throne at all. Winterfell is just perfect for her,” the 21-year-old told Entertainment Weekly.
Sophie continued: “Jon Snow should be on the Iron Throne out of all the Starks. He’s kind of got the whole package and has a great team around him. I think he’d be quite a good king.”
Jon and Sansa finally reunited at the end of season six after years apart, but fans shouldn’t expect the Stark siblings to get on too well as there appears to be some tension between the two.
Sansa begins to doubt the King in the North’s ability to rule and the pair will lock horns when the hit HBO show returns this weekend.
Speaking about the pair’s upcoming power struggle, Kit explained to the publication: “There is definite tension between them right from the first scene.
“There are the same problems — she questions his decisions and command; he doesn’t listen to her.
“But as far as where that goes or takes them or how dark it can get, we’ll see. It gets past sibling squabbling, it gets into two people power struggling.”
Game of Thrones returns to HBO on July 16 and will be simulcast in the UK at 2am on Sky Atlantic.
