Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers: Ned Stark to RETURN in brutal twist?

Game of Thrones will presumably throw caution to the wind when it returns this April.

The final six episodes are certainly going to include a number of shocking deaths, and perhaps even some returns.

And viewers may have already seen their first hint at what is to come when the Night King (played by Vladimir Furdik) arrives at Winterfell.

In the latest trailer for the final season Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) can be seen running away from something in the Winterfell crypt.

As dedicated fans will know, the crypt is where all of the Stark royalty are kept once they have died.

This tradition encompasses the corpse of Ned Stark (Sean Bean).

Since the trailer was released fans on Reddit have brightened the scene of Arya running in the crypt – and people think it is her deceased father chasing her.

What’s more, this could also be a hint towards Robb Stark (Richard Madden) and perhaps even Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley) making a return.

If this is the case, could the former members of the Stark family be reasoned with? Or will they be completely under the spell of the Night King?

This theory of course does have one problem – the figure chasing Arya seems to have a head, which eagle-eyed viewers will recall Ned does not.

Although, even if Ned did make an appearance without his head, Arya would surely still be running.

At the very least, fans have worked out the White Walkers are most likely arriving in Winterfell in the first few episodes of the final season.

Meanwhile other viewers have been speculating over the brand new character Harry Strickland.

Harry can be seen at the helm of a boat looking over the army of Gold Cloaks sailing on a Greyjoy boat.

Although this is a confusing mix of allegiances, fans have become a little confused by Harry’s appearance.

Fans have begun speaking out on Twitter about his look, with one writing: “Here’s a better look at the Golden Company – and their golden leader (well, his back anyway). In the books, this is Harry Strickland and he, er, does NOT look like this.”

Another said: “Isn’t Harry Strickland supposed to be fat and bald. Why’s he looking like a Disney prince from Shrek?”

Despite this, he is sure to change things up in the final season – but will he be an ally to Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), or an enemy?

Or is he simply looking to take down the White Walkers by any means necessary?

Game of Thrones season 8 premieres on Sunday, April 14 on HBO in the USA, and Monday, April 15 on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
