The eighth series, set to air next year, is the final instalment of the fantasy epic.
While many theories have been put forward by viewers as to how the show ends, Kit, 31, has said they may be left disappointed by the finale.
The actor said in an interview with Deadline: ”I think there’s a certain pressure I’ve not felt before.
”Whereas before, every year there’s always been a bit of pressure, this season is one where we could easily let people down,” Kit continued.
“Obviously, we don’t want to do that so we’re very much stepping up everyone’s game which is very apparent, at least to me,” he divulged.
There will only be six episodes for the plot to be tied together in the final season.
Production on the closing season is still ongoing as Kit commented they have “the first section out of the way and all is well”.
Kit has played Jon Snow since the show began in 2011 and remains one of the central characters in the battle for the Iron Throne.
Fans were sent into a frenzy at the end of season seven as Jon got together with Daenerys Targaryen (played by Emilia Clarke).
Meanwhile in real life, Kit announced his engagement to Game of Throne’s co-star Rose Leslie in September last year.
Rose, 30, starred as Jon’s lover Ygritte before being killed off in the fourth season.
Game of Thrones will return to Sky Atlantic in 2019.
