Game of Thrones season 7: Will Theon Greyjoy SAVE his sister Yara from their uncle Euron?

In the instalment entitled Stormborn, Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbæk) attacked the Iron Islanders’ fleet and captured his niece Yara Greyjoy (Gemma Whelan) in the fatal ambush.

The unexpected move brought back terrible flashbacks for Yara’s brother Theon (Alfie Allen) who was left traumatised when Euron held a knife to his sibling while calling him to fight.

The Ironborn was forced to jump ship and abandon his sister who was taken away along with Ellaria (Indira Varma) and her daughter Tyene (Rosabell Laurenti Sellers) who were also prisoners.

But despite Yara’s brother leaving her to fight off their evil uncle, actress Gemma Whelan, who plays the fierce warrior, revealed her character isn’t angry with Theon.

She told the Hollywood reporter: “I think she understands that he probably couldn’t have done anything at this point. Euron is so powerful. He has me. If Theon takes even one step forward, Euron can kill me.

“But I also think she’s very upset that he’s having flashbacks, and she understands there’s a lot going on for him. I don’t think she feels like he’s abandoning her.”

Despite his initial scare, Gemma hinted that Theon will be the one to save Yara from the clutches of Euron who will most likely be taking his prisoners to Queen Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey).

The 36-year-old continued: “I think she feels like he’s having a terribly traumatic time, there’s nothing he can do, and maybe — just maybe — he’s jumping ship now so he can come back and do some good.”

However, Yara is still incredibly upset that her brother left her as Gemma added: “Ultimately, I think she’s devastated. She’s completely helpless now, and so is Theon.

“She’s in the hands of her psychopath of an uncle, and she has no idea what’s going to happen next. She’s very fearful, but doesn’t want to show that she’s defeated.”

When asked if things are about to get even worse for the warrior, Gemma replied: “It’s not looking good! But I can’t say anything else.”

Game of Thrones continues on HBO this Sunday in the US and will be simulcast on Sky Atlantic on Monday at 2am. Catch up on seasons one to seven on NOW TV.
