Game of Thrones finale: Brienne’s heartbreaking last tribute to Jaime Lannister revealed

WARNING: The following article contains spoilers from Game of Thrones season eight, episode six.

The final ever instalment of the hit HBO series saw Brienne of Tarth (played by Gwendoline Christie) leave a heartfelt tribute to Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) in a book about the Kingsguard.

Jaime perished along with his sister Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) when Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) torched most of King’s Landing.

And Brienne, who has had a very interesting relationship with Jaime throughout the course of the show, was seen writing a heartfelt tribute to the Kingslayer.

She could be seen reading the beginning of Jaime’s entry in the book about the Kingsguard before completing it in her own way.

It read: “Ser Jaime Lannister. Squired for Ser Barrister Sely against the Kingswood Outlaws.

“Knighted and names to the Kingsguard in his sixteenth year for valour in the field: At the sack of King’s Landing, murdered his king, Aerys the second at the foot of the Iron Throne: Pardoned by King Rbert Baratheon:

“Thereafter known as the Kingslayer: After the Murder of King Joffrey I by Tyrion Lannsiter served under King Tommen I.”

The entry ended there before Brienne picked up a quill and completed it, writing with tears in her eyes.

She continued: “Captured in the field at the Whispering Wood:

“Set free by Lady Catelyn Stark in return for an oath to find and return her two daughters.”

Brienne then appeared to be writing about how Jaime lost his right hand before the camera cut to the next page.

It read: “Took Riverrun from the Tully rebels, without loss of life. Lured the unsullied into attacking Casterly Rick, sacrificing his childhood home in service to a greater strategy.

“Outwitted the Targaryen forces to seize Highgarden. Fought at the Battle of the Goldroad bravely, narrowly escaping death by Dragonfire.

“Pledged himself to the forces of men and rode north to join them at Winterfell, alone.

“Faced the Army of the Dead, and defend the castle against impossible odds until the defeat of the Night King.

“Escaped imprisonment and rode south in an attempt to save the capital from destruction.”

Brienne ended the entry: “Died protecting his Queen.”

The knight was then seen tearing up before closing the book where it was left ready for the next entry.

The emotional moment was just one of many throughout the finale with fans angry over the death of Daenerys.

The Mother of Dragons was stabbed in the heart by Jon Snow (Kit Harington) after he realised she only wanted power no matter the cost.

He broke down in tears as her body fell limp in his arms before her remaining dragon, Drogon, came to take her body away.
