Gabriella Papadakis: Who is nip slip ice dancer? Did she medal in Winter Olympics?

The 22-year-old French Ice dancer was competing with partner Guillaume Cizeron during the qualifying stage of the short program in the early hours of Monday morning.

And it was there when, to her horror, her dressed slipped down exposing her nipple to the world.

“I felt it right away and prayed,” she said afterwards. “It was pretty distracting.

“My worst nightmare at the Olympics. I told myself ‘you have to keep going’.

“That’s what we did, and we have to be proud of ourselves, delivering a great performance with that happening.

“It is a big distraction because I did not know I would keep my top until the end of the programme.

“We had no choice, we couldn’t stop and we had to keep going. We did a good job at it.”

Who is Gabreilla Papadakis?

Gabriella Papadakis is a 22-year-old French Ice dancer.

She began skating in 1998 and has two World Championship gold medals from 2015 and 2016 and four European Championship golds from Stockholm, Bratislava, Ostrava and Moscow.

She resides in Montreal, Canada after emigrating in 2014.

Her mother Catherine was a skating coach, while her father owned a food truck in texas.

Her names come from Greece with her father Emmanuel born in Korydallos, a suburb of Athens.

She started skating at a young age and first teamed up with current partner Guillaume Cizeron aged nine at the ISU Junior Grand Prix for the 2009-10 series – she finished 15th but went on to win her first medal of note in the 2012-13 edition in Sochi, winning silver, and also won silver at the 2013 World Junior Championships in Milan.

The pair moved up to senior level for the 2013-14 season and won gold in their debut event in Nice.

The 2018 Winter Olympics was their first Olympic event.

Did she medal in Pyeongchang?

Papadakis and Cizeron overcame the embarrassment on Monday to secure a silver medal denied only by Canadians Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, who picked up their second gold medal with a new world record in the early hours of this morning.

Papadakis and Cizeron had set a new world record only to see it beaten 15 minutes later.

“We are really proud of what we did today,” Cizeron said. “We did the best we could on the ice and it was a very emotional moment and we’re really proud of that silver medal.”

Papadakis said Tuesday’s performance had made their Olympic debut special.

“Today we did something we never thought we could do. We’ve never skated that way before,” she told a news conference.

“To do that in our first Olympics is really something that we’re proud of.”

Earlier, when asked if she had taken special steps to avoid any more costume problems, she laughed and told reporters, “Yeah, we made sure.”
