A new futuristic concept could see a so-called gym boat cruising along the River Seine in Paris.
Working out at the gym does not always offer the best views.
But this idea, dubbed as the Paris Navigating Gym, hopes to change that by bringing the gym on to the river.
The innovative concept has been designed by Italian firm Carlo Ratti Associati.
The fitness centre will the main feature on this sleek, 65ft long vessel with glass walls, so passengers can take in the city’s sights.
It will harness the energy from the passengers’ workouts to glide the boat along the river.
The boat will have spinning bikes and cross-trainers on board and will be able to house up to 45 people at a time.
Passengers will be able to see the amount of energy sourced from their workout alongside data about the River Seine’s environmental condition in real-time on augmented-reality screens.
If given the go ahead, the futuristic cruise could become a reality within 18 months.
Carlo Ratti, a founding partner of the design firm, told MailOnline: “It’s fascinating to see how the energy generated by a workout at the gym can actually help to propel a boat.
“It provides one with a tangible experience of what lies behind the often abstract notion of electric power.
“Strolling has always been a quintessentially Parisian way too express the excitement of urban life. What if tomorrow we can start to stroll on the river itself?”
