Fortnite update 8.20 is being released tomorrow by Epic Games, who also recently refreshed the official item shop.
Epic has confirmed that their next major patch is being released Wednesday, March 27, on all platforms.
This will include a few changes to the game, as well as bug fixes and other tweaks.
And Epic Games has dropped a few hints on what to expect when Fortnite update 8.20 does rollout.
While we don’t know yet if a new weapon or vehicle will be going live later this week, we do know about a special LTM being worked on.
The Floor is Lava limited time mode is expected to launch as part of update 8.20 and, bringing new rules to the island.
Epic says they are planning to bring servers down for this new patch, which will begin at around 9am on March 27.
“Feel the burn in the v8.20 update, which is planned to release on Wednesday, March 27,” a new message from Epic Games explains.
“Downtime starts at 5 AM ET(0900 UTC).”
Early patch notes have also revealed that a new Arena mode is being planned for the upcoming update.
Arena Mode will be part of Fortnite’s new World Cup eSports system, which starts with Online Opens in April.
To qualify for them, Fortnite gamers will need to climb to the top of the Fortnite Arena leaderboards.
“Players can compete on their own schedule to try and progress to the Champion League in the brand new Arena game mode releasing in v8.20,” a message from Epic Games confirms.
“If you can climb to the top, you’ll unlock access to the Fortnite World Cup Online Open tournaments.
“Every Saturday, players who have unlocked the Online Open will have a designated three-hour window of time (according to server region) to play in up to ten matches and score points.
“At the conclusion of the three-hour window, the top 3,000 players in each server region will advance to the Online Open Finals that Sunday (the following day).”
A new in-game announcement has also revealed that a new Poison Trap is coming to the island.
Fortnite Battle Royale will soon be able to test out this new item, with full details of its power and effects being listed in the 8.20 patch notes.
The in-game description for the new item reads: “It’s a Poison Trap! Watch your step lest you trigger a trap!”
Epic Games has also updated the official Fortnite Item Shop today with returning outfits and cosmetics to buy.
Today’s Fortnite shop update brings back The Party Parade and Calculator Crew Gear, some of which were featured in the game last year.
Both Nite Nite and Peekaboo clown outfits are ranked as Epic and cost 1,500 V-Bucks to purchase.
The Pick Squeak Axe is another Epic item to buy, alongside the Paper Plane Glider and Maven skin.
