
The actor – perhaps understandably – won’t be catching up with the raunchy trilogy, which has heavy BDSM themes.
Recalling a conversation he had with her, Don told Inquirer.net: “I said, ‘I wish you well, but this is one movie I won’t be seeing.’
“It was the right choice.”
However, he did go on to explain that Dakota talked her decision to take the role of Ana Steele through with him.
“We discussed it to some degree, but Dakota is a very powerful person,” he said.
“I’m so proud of her. She’s a dynamo, and she has good instincts about her career.
“We’re a family in this business. You have to be respectful of somebody else’s lane.
“Occasionally, they can intersect and intertwine, but we’re very supportive of each other. We show up at each other’s premieres and important events.”
Dakota had previously spoken about how her parents were avoiding the flicks, in which she stars alongside Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey.
“I think they would like to be able to see the movies that have put me in this place in my life, but because it’s pretty inappropriate, they haven’t seen them,” she said earlier this year.
The trilogy’s concluding chapter, Fifty Shades Freed, is out on February 9, 2018.
