The pair had been chasing after Robert Sugden (played by Robert Hawley) who had run off with baby Seb, with Rebecca (Emily Head) and Lachlan (Thomas Atkinson) also in the jeep.
As they sped after Robert, Lachlan began to tell his mother Chrissie (Louise Marwood) what he thought of her, branding her a “monster”.
The teen could also be heard singing a creepy lullaby, which hinted that the end was nigh for the White family.
At the last minute, Lachlan grabbed hold of the steering wheel which led the car to swerve into an oncoming lorry.
The horrific crash saw Lawrence thrown from his seat and instantly killed while Chrissie died as she held onto Lachlan’s hand.
In the final moments of the double bill, Robert was heard telling Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) that he believes Lachlan caused the accident which has left the mother of his child in a critical condition.
And, eagle-eyed fans of the ITV soap may have already worked out how Lachlan will be exposed.
In the first instalment, the youngster could be seen calling his friend Gerry Roberts (Shaun Thomas), who did not pick up his phone, which meant he left a voicemail.
Viewers were quick to point out that Lachlan had left evidence that he caused the crash in the voicemail and questioned when Gerry would discover it.
“Omg is Gerry gonna have a voicemail of the crash?? #emmerdale,” one viewer commented.
Another questioned: “Someone help me out plz. Did Lachlan purposefully leave Gerry a message or did he accidentally hit the call button? #emmerdale (sic).”
A third continued: “Bet you Lachlan phoned Gerry for him to hear everything thinking nobody would actually survive the crash.. how long until he remembers he phoned him and left a voicemail. #emmerdale.”
“YES ROBERT!!! Thank goodness he’s managed to figure it all out! Now we just need Gerry to check his phone to see the voicemail and Lachlan can finally be exposed! #Emmerdale,” someone else shared.
A fifth shared: “Is there going to be a voicemail with the accident on it on Gerry’s phone..?? Lachlan rang him and when the phone was last in shot the call was on going surely..?? #TheWhites #emmerdale.”
Another added: “Doesn’t Lachlan remember the message he left for Gerry.He knows he will be caught out #Emmerdale.”
Will Gerry discover the voicemail from Lachlan and will Robert use it to expose the youngster?
