Emma Stone and Jonah Hill set to reunite in new Netflix series Maniac

The two last worked together as love interests in the 2007 film Superbad which saw them both get their big break.

And now they will back together playing psychiatric patients in a dark comedy.

Maniac, written by Patrick Somerville, is based on the 2014 Norwegian series that will see the two characters living out their fantasy lives.

In reality, they’re patients living in a psychiatric ward where they are being treated for their disconnect from reality.

Cary Fukunaga is directing the new project after being in charge of HBO’s True Detective for its first season.

Filming will start shooting later this year on August 15 in New York City and is expected to continue for about three months, according to Deadline.

The new Netflix show will feature ten episodes and will be produced by Paramount TV and Anonymous Content.

Emma, 28, is certainly in high demand after she won a Golden Globe and SAG Award in recent months for her role in the musical La La Land.

She won Best Female Actor at last month’s Screen Actor Guild Awards and collected her trophy from none other than 33-year-old Jonah.

The red-head struggled for words as she accepted her award and admitted she felt like she was “going to faint”.

But the pair looked thrilled to be back in each-other’s company so no doubt the old friends will prove a big hit in the new Netflix series.

Emma is now a very strong contender to win Best Actress at the Oscar’s later this month where La La Land is nominated in 14 categories.

Maniac is set to appear on Netflix in 2018.
