Linda Carter (played by Kellie Bright) made an explosive return to the BBC soap on Monday night, and split with Mick (Danny Dyer) over his sordid fling with Whitney Dean (Shona Mcarty).
However, after Mick finally came clean over his forbidden feelings for his daughter-in-law, it emerged Linda was harbouring her own secret after she admitted she was keeping something from her estranged husband during a mysterious phonecall.
Naturally, fans began speculating over Linda’s bombshell in their droves on Twitter, with some suggesting the soap matriarch is pregnant, while others are predicting the worst news imaginable – she’s sick.
“I think Linda got some serious other illness or been pregnant and terminated the baby and she can’t bare to tell Mick #EastEnders,” guessed one viewer, before another added: “Has anyone thought that Linda’s secret might be that she’s pregnant #EastEnders.”
A third yelled: ”WHAT IS LINDA’S BIG SECRET? She’s had an affair, want’s a divorce, is pregnant again? WHAT IS IT? @bbceastenders #EastEnders.”
“#EastEnders is Linda’s secret she’s dying?” pleaded one more, which was followed by: “I think Linda’s sick that’s her secret.”
Other fans suggested that Linda was either having an affair with Woody Woodward or that the duo had teemed up to tear down Whitney.
Last night, Linda appeared to come close to spilling out everything after Mick lashed out at her of taking so long to come home.
“I had other stuff to deal with, didn’t I?” she cried. “I couldn’t be in two places at once.”
Linda fled Albert Square eight months ago as actress Kellie Bright welcomed her second child last year.
