Eamonn Holmes SNAPS as he’s forced to ‘cover’ for HUNGOVER Ruth Langsford

The married presenting duo were in stitches as they reflected on the little white lies parents tell their children.

From taking the batteries out of a toy to pretend it’s broken, to convincing toddlers the ice cream van siren means there’s no more Mr Whippy left, Eamonn and Ruth were bowled over by the imagination of some of their most mischevious This Morning viewers.

However, Ruth confessed that she’s often passing off the odd fib to her son Jack, but there’s one lie in particular which seems to pop up more than most.

“I have to hold my hands up,” she sighed. “I’ve been pretending to be ill when I’m hungover.”

Eamonn snapped back: “You don’t pretend, I have to cover for you.”

During today’s show, Ruth and Eamonn were left stunned when Down’s Syndrome couple Nikki Whyatt and Samantha Lochire got engaged.

The infatuated pair were recently banned from kissing at their local youth club and responded by declaring their love of reach other in front of the nation.

In turn, viewers were in floods of tears, with one posting: “Sobbing at my desk, massive congratulations Nick and Sam.”

Another followed: “#ThisMorning amazing amazing..they are adults after all let them get on with it..congratulations guys,” before one more cried: “Nicky & Sam have me in tears. So sweet, why shouldn’t they experience love and affection?”

This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV
