Eamonn Holmes leaves wife Ruth speechless with intimate Star Trek fantasy admission

The couple kicked off today’s show with a discussion on how different people are spending their evenings during lockdown.

Ruth revealed that some couples are getting dressed up as if they were going out for a meal despite having to stay indoors.
“It’s a lot of effort,” Ruth remarked as she confirmed she wasn’t too enamoured with the idea.

“It is a lot of effort,” Eamonn quipped. “I suspect you’d wriggle out of it, you wouldn’t really do it.”

“I’d maybe do it once or twice,” she conceded. “But imagine doing it every evening on top of the washing, ironing and cooking.”

“What about a Star Trek evening?” Eamonn asked. “You could be my lieutenant.”

Bursting out laughing, Ruth gave a cheeky insight into Eamonn’s Star Trek fantasy by predicting he would like her to dress up as Nyota Uhura.

“Thing is you’ve probably got the outfit somewhere, haven’t you?” Ruth quipped.

“Don’t go into detail darling, don’t explain,” Eamonn quipped as Ruth grabbed his hand.

“We’re very close, we’re intimate so we’re alright, we don’t have to social distance,” she added.

However, This Morning fans were shocked the couple still had to explain why they weren’t following social distancing measures.

One wrote: “Just have a message on the screen for Eamonn and Ruth regarding social distancing. Ridiculous they have to keep explaining! #ThisMorning.”

“And in 3…2…1… cue people asking why Eamonn and Ruth are sitting together #ThisMorning,” another shared.

“Why do @EamonnHolmes and Ruth constantly have to explain about why they’re not socially distancing. They’ve been married god knows how many years. How is it not common knowledge? Ffs #ThisMorning,” a third said.

While another tweeted: “Please don’t tell me people are still questioning why they aren’t apart.”

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am.
