Does Meghan Markle feel ‘nostalgia' for her old career? Looked ‘truly happy’ at Hamilton

Meghan Markle is now familiar across the globe as a member of the British Royal Family.

The wife of Prince Harry once worked as an actress. After studying theatre at university, Meghan has numerous acting roles.

She scored her big break in cable drama Suits playing sexy paralegal Rachel Zane.

And Meghan relived elements of her acting past when she posed on stage with the cast of Hamilton recently.

The couple attended a special gala performance of the award-winning musical to raise money for Harry’s aids charity Sentebale.

Body language expert Judi James claims Meghan might be feeling some nostalgia for her past career.

She said: “The facial expressions say it all here really, especially the eye expressions.”

The body language expert said it appears “as though the actress part of her has just come alive again to be standing in line with other performers on stage.”

In an image of the couple sat in the stalls, Judi said: “Meghan’s raised brows create a knowing-looking smile as her eyes look up into what could be the upper row of the stalls and she performs a small preening gesture, touching an earring with her left hand.

“Her open-mouth smile as she communicates with actors behind them suggests a very confident form of delight in contrast with Harry’s ‘big kid’ grin and eye gleam.”

However, Judi said: “It’s in the line-up with the other cast members that Meghan really looks in her element though, and this could signal some nostalgia for her old career.

“As Harry stands behind her placing a careful hand to her waist Meghan’s wide, confident smile and slight head tilt suggest she’s feeling truly happy and at home.”

However, the Duchess is not likely to be heading back to the stage anytime soon, according to the expert, despite enjoying being at the theatre.

Judi said: “There is a careful modification of this pose once the shots are taken though, that should let us know that the smell of the greasepaint hasn’t actually turned her head.

“In the last picture she quietly disassociates herself from her performing past by reverting to some more self-effacing and even slightly shy gestures to make herself look less like a fellow actor.”

What is more, the Duchess appears to subconsciously emphasise her role of wife and Duchess by showing off her engagement ring, Judi claims.

She explained: “Hunching her shoulders slightly she brings her clutch bag up as a small barrier signal, holding it with straight fingers that display her wedding and engagement rings to emphasise her new role in life.”

It was recently revealed that Meghan Markle and Prince Charles, 69, are ‘very close’.

A family member told the magazine: “The wedding was a real turning point.

“Charles showed so much love towards Harry and Meghan, and I think Harry will be eternally grateful to his papa for stepping in and giving Meghan’s hand in marriage. The bond between them is very close.”

Who is Meghan Markle? Quick profile

Meghan Markle was born Rachel Meghan Markle, on August 4, 1981 to parents Doria Ragland and father Thomas Markle.

Her father was previously married to Roslyn Loveless and Meghan has two elder half sibling – sister Samantha Markle and brother Thomas Markle Junior.

Actress

Meghan’s first television appearance in the USA was in an episode of the medical drama General Hospital in 2002.

She later moved on to roles in CSI, Without a Trace and Castle along with bit parts in Hollywood films including Get Him to the Greek, Remember Me and Horrible Bosses.

Meghan was also a “briefcase girl” on Deal or No Deal – but her most famous role was as Rachel Zane in legal drama Suits, which launched in 2011.

She was written out in the finale of the seventh series when her character got married, which aired in April 2018 – just before she got married herself.

Charity and humanitarian work

Meghan Markle’s career in television has gone hand-in-hand with her support for causes close to her heart.

She wrote about the stigma around menstrual health in an article for Time magazine and was a Global Ambassador for World Vision Canada – with whom she travelled to Rwanda for the charity’s Clean Water Campaign.

And her commitment to gender equality has seen her work with the United Nations – receiving a standing ovation in 2015 for her speech to mark International Women’s Day.

Relationships

In September 2011, she wed film producer Trevor Engelson, who she began dating in 2004.

But the pair divorced two years later in August 2013, citing irreconcilable difference.

She was in a relationship with celebrity chef Cory Vitiello for almost two years, before they broke it off in 2016 but the two remain good friends.

And in June 2016, she met Prince Harry on a blind date set up by a mutual friend.

Their relationship began in October that year and just over one year later, on November 27, 2017, the pair announced their engagement.

They married on May 19, 2018 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

Meghan’s heritage

Some have claimed Meghan Markle is the first mixed-race member of the Royal Family.

Historians are still arguing about Queen Charlotte, the wife of King George III.

But Meghan will be the first royal to openly embrace a mixed-race heritage.

She has written about the difficulties of being a biracial actress in Hollywood as she claims she is not black enough for some roles and not white enough for others.
