Diego Maradona And Konami Are Now Best Friends

What a difference a couple of months makes. In March, football legend Diego Maradona wanted to sue Konami for including a digital version of himself in PES 2017 without his permission. Now, in May, he’s signed on to become an ambassador for the series.

El Eco reports that the agreement comes after an out-of-court settlement, in which Konami have agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to Maradona in return for not just his appearance in the game, but to act as a promoter for the series from now until 2020.

If that sounds like quite the turnaround, note this wasn’t your average legal dispute. Konami Digital president Takayuki Kubo flew out to Argentina for the discussions personally, in which Maradona has also pledged to donate part of the money he received towards improving grass-roots football facilities in Argentina.
