Dancing On Ice 2018: Jayne Torvill forced to comfort Chris Dean amid shock audience revolt

Donna Air and Mark Hanretty had just performed their routine, but it didn’t go down well.

All of the judging panel had each individually issued scores of six.

However, in an unusual turn of events, 59-year-old Chris had awarded the least points.

Giving a total of just 5.5 to the dancing duo, the audience were not impressed.

As the crowd booed at the professional skater, Chris didn’t look best pleased.

Phillip Schofield addressed the elephant in the room and joked that “it made a change” as normally Chris is never booed.

The presenter gasped: “And the man the audience just booed!”

He then chuckled: “Yes they did! Makes a change.”

Chris put his head on Jayne Torvill’s shoulder and pulled an upset face.

He added: “It’s fine, I’m confident up here! You can’t beat a bit of kneeling at the beginning of a routine. I’ve seen it before!”

His scoring came after Donna had tried her best to provide the audience with a more romantic performance.

The 38-year-old had made the decision following criticism from the judges about her nerves and technique.

Jason Gardiner, Ashley Banjo, Jayne and Chris did praise the star for her continued improvement on the ice, but fans were not happy.

Donna managed to get a combined score of 23.5 from the judges, which was the same as the week before.

However, some viewers picked up on her failure to leave her dance partner Mark’s “hold” during the performance.

continues next Sunday on at 6pm.
