The popular series is returning to ITV at the start of next year with Phillip and his This Morning co-host Holly Willoughby taking on presenting duties.
The pair fronted the show when it first began until the blonde beauty stepped down from her role as host in 2011 to present The Voice on the BBC instead.
Christine then stepped in and presented Dancing on Ice alongside Phillip until the show was axed three years later.
When the series’ revival was announced however, it was revealed that the 38-year-old would not be returning with the 55-year-old.
So how did Christine react to the news that Holly had been approached instead of her? Surprisingly well according to Phillip.
“Christine is one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life,” he said at the Dancing on Ice press conference yesterday.
“Nobody, nobody in television is more thoughtful than Christine – which is why when it was announced that Holly was coming back to do the show, the first person that got in touch was Christine.”
He went on to add: “She texted saying, ‘Oh my gosh, this is so exciting, please tell me I can come and watch?’”
It comes after Phillip revealed why Holly, 36, was paid less than him on This Morning before she received a hefty pay rise early this year.
“We’re getting paid the same now,” he said. “But you have to remember that when Holly started on This Morning, I’d been doing it for years and was always sort of the one that had to pull it all through.
“But you know, once Holly was an equal presenter, then absolutely and across the board [there should be equal pay], that is the way it should be for sure.”
Dancing on Ice launches January 2, and This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
