Beginning the weather forecast at the end of this evening’s Countryfile, the BBC meteorologist predicted snow will impact certain areas of the country.
As the seasons change with the new month beginning, the forecaster stated viewers could expect a change in temperatures as well as wintry conditions.
“It will turn colder in Scotland with the first setting in and icy patches where it’s been wet on untreated surfaces but look how mild it is again across South Wales and Southern England.
“Into tomorrow, more cloud, outbreaks of rain or showers, some heavy moving across England and Wales,” the forecaster said as he spoke about Monday’s weather.
He continued: “Northern counties stay mainly dry with some sunshine and though Northern Scotland will see a few showers, these turning increasingly wintry even to lower levels towards the end of the day.
“And again, going into Tuesday morning there will be a risk of icy patches here but overnight into Tuesday, where’re in a gap between weather systems.
“The colder air has filtered its way further south and that means then as Tuesday begins, there will be a wide spread first and maybe one or two fog patches around as well.
“Overall, it’s a quiet start to Tuesday then lurking to the South-West here is another area of low pressure and more weather fronts.”
The BBC weather forecaster then warned of snow into Tuesday night.
He said: “Now as we go on through Tuesday and into Wednesday, this weather system then pushes up the rain and maybe some snow into the Pennines particularly going on into Wednesday morning and then clearing away but there is some uncertainty over the Northern extent.
“Looks mainly to be in England and Wales. Looks like the sunnier weather will remain in Scotland,” he added.
Then the BBC forecaster turned his attention to the weather forecast later on this week.
Turning his attention to winter weather once more, the BBC weather forecaster revealed there could be some snow in Northern Scotland.
However, viewers can expect another change in temperatures as the weather map displayed double figures across the country on Thursday.
Looking towards the weekend, the forecaster said: “It’s a complicated weather system Thursday into Friday,” as a new area of low pressure brining more wet weather descends.
“Some uncertainty of where that will go, the potential for strong winds, gales, maybe disruptive winds out of this,” the forecaster warned.
“Again more wet weather with the potential for some snow to the higher hills. Keep an eye on that as well,” the forecaster warned.
“It looks as that clears away, into next weekend, it will turn colder, but our weather turns quieter for a time,” he concluded.
Also on tonight’s programme, viewers were shocked by the name of a particular type of pigeon when the team visited County Durham.
Presenter Steve Brown, 37, told viewers about an English Long-Faced Muff Tumbler pigeon, with some unsure about the name of the bird.
One viewer wrote on Twitter: “They have absolutely just made that up #countryfile,” not believing the pigeon was given such a name.
