Countryfile weather forecast: ROLLER COASTER fronts to hit UK as Atlantic belts travel

Countryfile delivered its five-day forecast earlier this evening as Darren Bett returned to screens to predict the coming week’s weather.

It seems the week will be a mixed bag, as temperatures continue to soar and fall each day.

Darren explained how the turbulent weather comes as a result of various fronts making their way across to the UK from the Atlantic.

He started by discussing last week’s forecast, telling viewers: “What we’ve got here is the last seven days on the satellite picture and everything has been coming in – it’s been a roller coaster ride.

“This cloud here was the remnants of tropical Storm Ernesto that’s moved away. The important thing is everything will continue to come in from the Atlantic over the week ahead.”

Tomorrow will see a similar day to today, with a mixed bag of small patches of drizzle matched with sunny openings.

The south east will see a high of 25, but the likes of Scotland and the north east may get the odd shower.

Tuesday sees “warm and humid” air making its move, according to Darren. He explained: “Here we’ve got some really warm and humid air and that’s really trapped to the south of this weather front which is quite slow moving but that will steam towards the UK which will eventually buckle.

“So eventually on Tuesday, we’ll see some rain coming into the far north west.

“Elsewhere it will be a dry day and Tuesday will be a warm day.”

Wednesday is set for highs of 27, perhaps 28, as the warm weather front brings along humid air, but with that comes the chance of rain in some areas.

Darren went on to say how the mid-week high will be the “last” of the warm weather for the time being, as a northern weather front comes in.

He continued: “That’s probably the last of the warm air for a while as we get this north west air flow.

“That will tend to push down cooler and fresher air from the north west too. A few showers focussed on Scotland, but the temperatures will be a little bit lower across the board.

“Top temperature this time of 23,” he told BBC viewers.

Darren concluded his Countryfile forecast explaining how “fun and games” will take place over the next five days as the UK battles various weather forecasts.

He said: “We’ve got that cooler and fresher air but it does allow some weather fronts to topple in from the Atlantic and these are moving pretty quickly actually. They’re bringing rain to the northern part of the UK.

“As you head further south, it will be dry and sunny but temperatures won’t be as high as previously.

“It’s going to be a week of fun and games as we’re going to have those Atlantic winds coming.”

Countryfile continues next Sunday on BBC One at 7pm.
