Coronation Street spoilers: Liz McDonald to be Pat Phelan’s NEXT victim amid shock threat?

Pat (played by Connor McIntyre) faced a difficult situation in the latest episode of the ITV soap when his hostage Andy Carver (Oliver Farnworth) became very sick from his below-par living conditions in the basement.

But as the corrupt mechanic struggled to come up with a suitable plan of action that wouldn’t result in his daughter Nicola Rubinstein (Nicola Thorpe) finding out the truth and land him back in prison, he ended up slipping up in front of Liz (Beverley Callard) in the Rovers.

After concocting a risky scenario to convince a GP at the local doctors’ surgery to prescribe him with painkillers, he didn’t bank on the blonde busy-body following his every move.

Successfully managing to revive his ill prisoner, Pat suddenly lost track of his complicated web of lies and went to the pub to relax with a drink.

However, following his claims to have excruciating tooth ache earlier that day, Liz spotted the confusing sight and confronted the Liverpool-born character.

“I’m not sure you should be drinking alcohol,” she blurted out, as Pat tried to shoo her away with claims that he only wanted a “quiet drink”.

When Liz persisted however, Pat lost his patience and turned on his wife’s confidante.

“Did I ask for your opinion?” he snapped, as she continued on to say: “No but you did seem quite poorly a couple of hours ago, you were claiming to be at death’s door. Eileen is my mate,” she said.

Showing his true nature, Pat turned to face Liz and said menacingly: “Eileen is my wife. I’m warning you, please don’t meddle in things you don’t understand.”

While Liz was clearly shocked by his admission, with a calm expression Pat proceeded to down his pint and threaten her once more, saying: “I mean it. Keep it shut.”

Liz was visibly shaken by the sense that Pat is hiding something, yet she remains unaware of exactly how deep his lies go. Could Pat’s threats set in motion the unravelling of his lies, or will Liz become his next victim?

Coronation Street continues tomorrow at 7.30pm on ITV.
