Coronation Street’s David (played by Jack P Shepherd) will find himself becoming more aggressive in coming weeks as he lashes out at those around.
Still struggling to come to terms with his horrific sexual assault, he will begin to spiral out of control and end up in a nasty fight with Gary Windass (Mikey North).
New images from the set of the popular ITV soap show David in handcuffs as he is led away by police.
Meanwhile, Gary is pictured with a painful looking cut on his forehead and a black eye as he is helped into an ambulance.
The scenes are set to air following a charity boxing match, which David was previously ruled out of due to his epilepsy.
However, it seems something must trigger him into lashing out as Gary takes to the boxing ring.
As David is escorted out of the premises, his sister Sarah (Tina O’Brien) can be seen rushing after her boyfriend Gary.
David is set to struggle in upcoming weeks as he pushes his girlfriend Shona (Julia Goulding) away.
He will also fail to open up about his rape to a sexual health doctor when he fears he could have HIV.
The salon worker was seen reading an HIV information poster in Friday night’s double bill, which will prompt him to get tested.
Meanwhile, his attacker Josh (Ryan Clayton) will pretend nothing happened as he sets his sights on Alya Nazir (Sair Khan).
Fearing that David could tell the police about his rape, he decides to find a “cover story”.
When the hairdresser confronts him in upcoming episodes and declares he will report his sexual assault, Josh will insist he won’t be believed.
The mechanic will warn David the police will dismiss his claims as he flirts with Ayla.
Following David’s rape, CEO of Survivors Manchester, Duncan Craig, said he wanted the scene to open up the discussion on consent.
Speaking to Express.co.uk., he explained: “I wanted viewers to see was this whole big question of consent.
“There is something about the bit where Josh says to David, ‘Shall we go bed?’ and then David sort of mumbles something and the viewer we could hear something that was about not consenting.
“But Josh was either not hearing it or ignoring it. And then the way that there was that coercion and control from Josh, David falling onto the bed and quite clearly having that half a recognition of what was kind of going on and half of a recognition of just being immobile. That was just so important.”
Duncan went on to add: “The whole conversation around consent we’ve still got to have.”
