Coleen Nolan breaks down as she reveals her sister Linda has cancer again

The 52-year-old was seen getting emotional and her voice broke as she explained why she had been away from the ITV programme for several weeks.

“This is so hard. It’s difficult to know where to start. As you know, my sister Linda had an accident where she fell up the stairs,” Coleen said, the presenter went on to say that Linda, 58, had hurt her hip but during a scan at the hospital, doctors found the cancer had returned.

The cancer was found as a cyst attached to where the break was on Linda’s pelvic bone.

There had been lots of questions surrounding Coleen’s absence from the show and the panellist and her sibling wanted to put it all to bed.

“She saw the speculation about why I was off, which wasn’t true – she didn’t want people to start speculating about her. I didn’t want to lie to any of you. I wouldn’t be able to hold it together,” Coleen said.

Linda gaver her “blessing” to Coleen to break the news of her illness on Loose Women today.

Reflecting on her own reaction to the news, Coleen said: “I went through such terrible anger, I was angry at the world, angry at cancer, angry for her.

“I just thought it’s so unfair, she’s just got it all together, it’s taken her 10 years to finally get her life back and then it goes whack here you go, now face this. So I was angry as well.

“The other reason I didn’t come back was, because of all of that, I got a stress related allergy. So I got taken to hospital with that, they were frightened of anaphylactic shock. I thought no one wants to see that on the telly.”

She was quick to clarify that medics had told Linda that the cancer was “not curable but treatable”, meaning that she would be living with the disease but not dying from it.

Coleen said: “It’s not curable but it’s treatable and it has not spread anywhere. She wants me to get across, obviously, it’s going to be compared to Bernie and when she died. She is not dying of cancer, she is living with cancer. It is treatable.”

Linda had breast cancer six years ago, which she overcame after undergoing treatment.

Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12.30pm.
