Chelsea news: Ruben Loftus-Cheek is BETTER than Cesc Fabregas – Chris Sutton

That is the view of BBC Sport pundit and former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton.

Loftus-Cheek, who is spending this season on-loan at Crystal Palace, made his England debut in the 0-0 draw with Germany at Wembley last Friday.

The midfielder played the entire 90 minutes and is once again set to start against Brazil this evening (8pm).

Ex-Chelsea winger Pat Nevin is excited by the amount of young English players coming through at his former club.

But he claims they may have to keep go out on-loan to prove how good they are, like Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham, who is at Swansea and also made his England debut against the world champions.

“The next group looks like a bunch for Chelsea doesn’t it and they’re all beginning to get opportunities now,” Nevin told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“They’re getting games, Loftus-Cheek will get a game when he’s gone out on-loan, Tammy Abraham will get a game out on-loan. It may well be that they get enough games.

“So you happen to be playing with Palace, if you’re good enough, it will show through, you’re playing in the Premier League.

“They might not get games for Chelsea.”

Sutton asked Nevin whether Loftus-Cheek would be a regular if he returned to Stamford Bridge next season.

Nevin responded with another question, asking: “Do you think he’s better than Cesc Fabregas?”

Sutton gave a simple response, saying: “Yes I do.”
