Higuain is set to join on loan from Juventus and the Italian had wanted the deal done in time for him to play against Arsenal.
He is due in London today for a medical but needed to be registered by midday to play on Saturday afternoon.
And the Italian revealed he still didn’t know if the transfer would be done this month – and confirmed Alvaro Morata was available for this weekend despite being linked with a move back to Spain.
“I don’t know,” Sarri said when asked about the progress Chelsea are making on signing Higuain.
“I want to be clear, I spoke to Marina two weeks ago, she knows my opinion and then I decided to be focused on the pitch and training.
“I know that Marina is working very hard, but I know nothing about the market.
“I don’t call her every evening, otherwise I spend my energy on the market, it is better to spend mental energy on the pitch.”
Asked about Morata – who is wanted at Atletico Madrid – Chelsea boss Sarri insisted the striker is still available to play for him.
“I don’t know if he will play (against Arsenal on Saturday),” Sarri said.
“He is training with us of course. It is normal.
“It is a difficult moment, it is normal for a player in January to be involved in a market. He is available (to play).”
Chelsea are understood to be in talks with Juventus and Atletico Madrid over deals for Higuain and Morata respectively.
The Blues want to sign Higuain but must get Morata a move away from the club at the same time.
Talks with Juventus are ongoing and there are reports Higuain will either be signed in a £7.3m loan deal, or Juve will take Emerson Palmieri as part of the move.
AC Milan – who currently have Higuain on loan from Juve – look set to play ball and let the striker go.
That’s because they are in talks with Genoa over a move for Krzysztof Piatek.
Morata moving to Atletico would see the Spaniard end his nightmare 18 months in England, where he has failed to adequately replace Diego Costa as Chelsea’s star man up front.
The £58m arrival from Real Madrid was also wanted at Sevilla and Valencia but the two La Liga sides cannot afford him.
Atletico themselves need to shift Nikola Kalinic and Gelson Martins to free up space in their squad and wage budget for Morata.
