CHELSEA 1-0 MANCHESTER UNITED
36: Maurizio Sarri is getting quite animated on the sidelines. Perhaps he feels his side should be punishing United more and pressing home their advantages all over the pitch… or perhaps he wants a cigarette.
33: Booked! Marcos Alonso is completely out of position and Eden Hazard is forced to ‘take one for the team’ by chopping Marcus Rashford down on the break. The free-kick is near the edge of the Chelsea penalty area but It’s easily cleared.
Bad news for fantasy football managers.

31: Still no shots on target for Manchester United. Just the one shot in total actually as Chelsea turn the screw. I just can’t see what Jose Mourinho’s plan is this afternoon – aside from Marcus Rashford blazing down the flanks.
29: Ey up! Chelsea should be 2-0 ahead. Marcos Alonso evades the attentions of Victor Lindelof and Ashley Young to stroll in down the left. He’s picked out a treat but his first touch is awful and David de Gea gratefully collects.
26: This is going south for Manchester United. One down, angry players and now Ashley Young collects an early booking for ploughing into Eden Hazard. That’s 65 minute to survive against the Belgian without putting a foot wrong – good luck with that!
23: It looks like Paul Pogba was blaming Victor Lindelof for blocking him at the corner. I’m afraid that he’s dead wrong about that.
“What’s interesting is Paul Pogba’s reaction when the goal goes in. He goes to sleep. But he’s ranting and raving at Victor Lindelof, saying he blocked him off. He didn’t, sorry Paul. He was marking David Luiz,” Gary Neville said on Sky Sports.

CHELSEA 1-0 MANCHESTER UNITED | RUDIGER
20: And there’s the breakthrough! Hazard, Morata, Willian? Nope. It’s centre-back Antonio Rudiger with a thumping header to give Chelsea the lead.
Luke Shaw is forced to knock Eden Hazard’s cross out for a corner. Willian delivers an excellent ball and Rudiger nips away from the static Paul Pogba to head beyond David de Gea.
Speaking of Pogba, he threw a hissy fit after the goal went in. Shouting at people, thumping the ground but as far as I can see – Rudiger was his man.
18: Chance! Well, it was a chance but Romelu Lukaku decided against knocking the ball down to the unmarked Chris Smalling at a corner and sends it miles wide.
15: Jose Mourinho throws a few of his toys out of the pram when Mateo Kovacic slides through the back of Ashley Young. He wants a booking but mighty Mike Dean isn’t interested.
13: That’s the most obvious booking of the day. Nemanja Matic stops Eden Hazard from breaking away with an obvious hold. Mike Dean has no hesitation in producing the yellow.
11: Rubbish. Willian takes the set-piece but curls it hopelessly high and wide. Not his finest to say the least.
Chelsea vs Manchester United: Express Sport brings you LIVE Premier League coverage
10: I hope Eden Hazard is wearing his protective gear today – he’s clearly going to need some! Ashley Young is lucky to avoid a booking when bundling through the back of the Belgian. Nemanja Matic then does the same JUST outside the penalty area.
Marcos Alonso, Willian and Luiz are standing over it…
8: Juan Mata is playing in a very advanced position today. He’s lurking around the halfway line to provide some guile when the visitors eventually win the ball back. Could be a smart ploy from Jose Mourinho.
5: Chelsea looking to settle things down a touch by retaining possession in midfield. United aren’t in the business of winning style or bravery awards it seems with all 11 inside their own half and little pressing.
2: And we have our first corner of the afternoon, won and taken by Juan Mata. His inswinger is headed clear by the towering Rudiger. Decent early tempo here at Stamford Bridge.

CHELSEA 0-0 MANCHESTER UNITED
1: And we’re off! I usually like to get splinters by sitting on the fence with my predictions – but I’m putting myself out there with a 2-0 to Chelsea. I reserve the right to delete this if I’m wrong…
Two-minute warning
12:28: And here they come! The players have emerged from the tunnel to a wall of noise, sunshine and fireworks for some reason. Nothing says this is a big game like fire being sent into the air, right?
Having a ball…
12:25: Well don’t Jose Mourinho and Maurizio Sarri look like they are having a fun conversation… still less frosty than Jose with Antonio Conte, Arsene Wenger, Walter Mazzarri… everyone actually.

Kelvin: I’m a Chelsea fan, but something just tells me this will be a Manchester United win. Hope it’s not.
Michael: When Olivier Giroud shows his individual career highlights to his kids and grandkids, they’re going to think he was the best player ever. Worldies and majesty. Morata on the other hand is poor man’s Fernando Torres.
Tim: When it comes to defensive headers in the penalty area, Man Utd’s 4 centre backs are the weakest in the country. Chelsea could score a hat-trick of headers.
I make the odds of a hat-trick of headers about 10000/1, Tim. Worth a quid…

Jose talks Chelsea
12:10: Jose Mourinho, who is wearing a snazzy fleece today, has been discussing today’s match and his respect for the hosts. Below is what he told Sky Sports.
“It’s always a big match. In three days we have probably the best team in the country and then Juventus and that gives us a sense of happiness.
“One to play, to enjoy and see the distance between us and them. We will need our players to be top of their level because without that we will not be able to win. But the feeling to play against good teams is happiness.
“I want to show my respect for the players, and people that supported me every day of my life at Chelsea.
“I cannot promise but if my team scores a goal but I will try to behave. If we win I will try to be respectful because that’s the way they were always with me. If they are not respectful because I am now the Manchester United manager, that’s another story. But they were always behind me at Stamford Bridge.”
Chelsea 5 Manchester United 4
12:05: Y’all remember the League Cup clash in 2012? A fourth-round thriller saw the Blues come from behind three times before winning in extra-time.
Ryan Giggs, Javier Hernandez and Nani gave United leads which were cancelled out by a David Luiz penalty, Gary Cahill and a last-minute Eden Hazard spot-kick.
Daniel Sturridge and Ramires found the net over the extra half-hour to ensure Chelsea emerged victorious despite a last-minute consolation penalty from Giggs.
I’ve posted the highlights above for those wishing to take a trip down memory lane. I’m nice like that.

G-Nev..
12:00: Jose Mourinho was HELPED by claims he would be sacked after the Premier League clash with Newcastle earlier this month, says Gary Neville.
The Red Devils won their last outing 3-2 against Newcastle, coming back from two goals down to win 3-2 thanks to a late Alexis Sanchez winner.
Ahead of that game, reports claimed Mourinho would be sacked whatever the result, and speaking before kick off at Chelsea today, Neville says ultimately those reports helped Mourinho get the job done against Newcastle.
“The truth is we don’t really know (if the Newcastle win saved Mourinho’s job),” Neville said. “What we do know is that the situation is precarious. The headlines in some way coming out before that game that Jose Mourinho was going to be sacked in some ways helped him because it put more pressure on the club.
“The idea of a Manchester United boss being sacked, three on the bounce, and the press finding out before the actual manager, would have been embarrassing. So I think it maybe would have held them off.
“What I would say is, starting with the game today, there are a period of games now in front of Jose Mourinho, yeah you can lose against Chelsea and you can lose against Juventus, it’s more the manner and the spirit of the performance that I think we’re all going to look at today.
“It is precarious, I will say that, and he needs performances and quickly.”

Omofioye: Why on earth is everyone thinking Manchester United are the underdogs. The bookies have them at 4/1?!
Neil: Jose Mourinho has picked a very attacking team away from home against one of the big boys! Serious goals in this game. Mark my words.
Haywood: No Fred? No Andreas? Instead he plays Mata and Matic, then people are saying oh look he’s going for it. Really? Is that simply because he’s started Martial as well?
Hazard off?
11:55: I haven’t mentioned Eden Hazard in roughly four minutes – so it’s clearly time to discuss the Belgian and his future at Stamford Bridge.
The 27-year-old playmaker has spoken of his daily quandary (word of the day calendar) over his future, whether to extend his Chelsea contract which expires in June 2020, or seek a “dream” move to Real.
“I can finish with Chelsea,” Hazard told Sky Sports. “No problem at all. I am very happy with this club, with the team, my family is happy here. So If I don’t go to Spain, it is not a problem. I love the fans – I think the fans love me. What happens in the future, I will be happy, so that’s it.”

11:50: Some serious flattery going on between Jose Mourinho and Eden Hazard, folks. Not sure who it’s bad news for – but you feel it could end in tears for one set of supporters.
In an interview last weekend with a Belgian newspaper, Hazard named Mourinho as the one manager he would like to work with again.
Just a few days later, Mourinho returned the compliment when saying: “History says that when Eden Hazard is the best player in the Premier League, Chelsea is the champion.”

Alex: I think there are shades of Scolari’s start at Chelsea in 2008 about Sarri. A manager with no Premier League experience, same style of play, started great, then went downhill when opposition realised there was no plan B, was sacked by February.
Emmanuel: I expect Manchester United to get a result today. Sarri’s dilemma is the nexus of Jorginho and Kante. It will cost Chelsea the game today!
Francis: I thought Ross Barkley was supposed to be the saviour of English football and Chelsea? Wait, you mean to tell me people over hyped their English player after one good game against a poor side? Really? Never!

Team news – Chelsea
11:40: Snap! Two changes for Chelsea too as Maurizio Sarri looks to maintain his unbeaten start to life in the Premier League.
Ross Barkley and Olivier Giroud drop OUT of the side who beat Southampton before the international break.
Mateo Kovacic and the much-maligned Alvaro Morata take their places.
Team news – Manchester United
11:35: Right, two changes for Jose Mourinho as he looks to beat his former club for the first time since taking charge at Old Trafford.
Eric Bailly and Scott McTominay are OUT of the starting XI with Victor Lindelof and Juan Mata replacing them.
It’s a pretty attacking side from the Portuguese, who looks like he’s going to ‘have a go’ at Chelsea this afternoon. Famous last words…

Hal: Eden Hazard is not the best in the world. As long as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are there – no chance for the rest. Oh, and Jose Mourinho will stay no matter today’s result.
Liam: Almost everyone on here is predicting that Chelsea are gonna wallop Manchester United. However, I think we’re looking at a goalless draw.
Chris: Did you know that Mourinho has tried 26 different centre-half combinations – suggests a manager who doesn’t know his strongest team. Defeat incoming!
Morning…
11:20: Hello and welcome to our LIVE coverage of the Premier League.
Any sore heads out there today? I went down my local last night for a quick pint and left a broken man. Always say no to shots, kids…
Anyway, we’re starting match-day nine with the pick of the fixtures as Jose Mourinho attempts to beat his former club for the first time since taking charge at Old Trafford.
Chelsea are unbeaten in the Premier League since Maurizio Sarri replaced Antonio Conte in the summer and have won widespread acclaim for their entertaining brand of football under their latest Italian manager.
In contrast, Mourinho returns to Stamford Bridge under a cloud as he struggles to re-establish himself as English football’s top dog.
That all-important team news and line-ups are on the way next!
