Boy George BREAKS DOWN as he apologises to escort prisoner for first time: ‘I’m ashamed’

The Culture Club singer was sentenced to 15 months in jail, eventually serving four, in 2009 and apologised to escort Audun Carlsen for the first time during the ITV show.

During his tearful interview with the Good Morning Britain host, the star – real name George O’Dowd – said: “I was prosecuted on my own evidence. I sent myself to prison.”

The pop icon was famously hooked to cocaine during the arrest and called the incident a “psychotic” episode.

“I stopped him from leaving my apartment,” he sighed. “It’s terrible what I did, and I’m ashamed and sorry for what I did. It was wrong.”

“Have you said sorry?” Piers asked.

“I just did say sorry,” Boy snapped back. “I don’t think it would make any difference. I thought if I talked about it, it would make it worse.”

The 55-year-old also opened up on his feud with the late George Michael, with whom he endured a tumultuous relationship through the 80s.

Blaming a clash of egos, the former The Voice UK coach recounted: “We had our squabbles, he was my rival, he was called George, he made soul music so everything he did it was like we were kind of battling all the time.”

But the twosome did eventually put their initial dislike to one side after bonding over a dinner with mutual friends.

Revealing the moment their friendship took a turn for the better, he dished: “The only time we really got together was when friends tricked us and there was this one particular night where the two girls in Banarama invited me to a dinner at a Japanese restaurant and he was there as well and we had such a brilliant time.”

Piers Morgan’s Life Stories continues next Friday at 9pm on ITV.
