BBC weather: Matt Taylor reveals Storm Aileen has caused MAJOR disruption

Last night, strong winds saw gusts of 70mph in the west of Bristol and 63mph at Heathrow but the meteorologist revealed Storm Aileen is now pushing eastwards moving towards the North Sea.

However, the weather presenter did warn fans of BBC Breakfast there is a lot of disruption on some railways this morning, espically routes into London, due to trees having been blown over.

Lincolnshire and East Anglia will still get 45mph gusts but the wind will slowly ease towards the day.

It will be a blustery start for many this morning with a mix of sunshine and showers across the UK.

There will be heavy showers in central and southern Scotland and parts of north east England with temperatures only reaching 12 or 13 degrees celsius.

Whereas the south of England will see temperatures of 17 or 18 degrees celsius and it will feel a little warmer in the sunshine.

Tonight, the rain will push southwards into England and Wales with temperatures dropping into single figures in towns and cities.

Tomorrow, there will be rain across the Midlands and south Wales will see a damp start to the day.

Elsewhere, most regions will see a mix of sunshine and showers throughout the day and the wind will still remain on the blustery side as temperatures struggle to reach mid teens.

Friday follows the same pattern of sunshine and showers although heavy bursts of rain will be seen in eastern counties with highs of 16 degrees celsius in the south of England.

BBC Breakfast continues weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
