BBC weather forecast: Wednesday WASHOUT as intensified band of cloud SWEEPS the UK

Most Britons will wake up to dark and murky skies this morning as thicken clouds loom over much of Britain.

Areas most likely to be affected include England and Wales, particularly in east Anglia as well as western Scotland.

It is also possible for some drizzle to occur across the east coast of East Anglia as a weather front weakens.

Meanwhile, showers are expected to develop in western Scotland during the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Elsewhere dry, with cloud to still linger over England and Wales, however, this will keep the temperatures up.

Weather reporter Matt Terry told BBC Breakfast viewers there would be showers today, before reassuring listeners there was going to be sunshine too.

He said: “We’ve got lots of cloud around in that south east corner, outbreaks of rain as well to take us through the morning rush hour.

“The odd heavier one along the coast as well, but away from that lots of dry weather to start the day. [However] a few showers spreading in across western Scotland.”

The best of the weather will be in England and Wales, where it has the potential to be mild and sunny.

Unfortunately, the sunshine won’t last long as the weather front moves in front the Atlantic, bringing with it rain to Northern Ireland and western Scotland.

Throughout the day, the rain will turn progressively heavier in western Scotland, however, England and Wales is going to remain dry for most of the afternoon.

Temperatures in the south east ranging between the high teens and low 20s, meanwhile, further north most places lower than 15 degrees Celsius.

At end of the week the weather will turn increasingly unsettled, starting with Thursday when a lot of cool air strikes northern Britain.

Also with an area of low pressure forming in Scotland tomorrow a hefty amount of rain is predicted to fall over the country before heading to northern England.

On the same day a weather front building up in the south will move across Wales, parts of southern England, the south west and the south Midlands, where there is going to be outbreaks of rain.

After a jet stream amplifies overnight, the UK will find its self trapped under a ridge of low pressure, resulting in further downpours across the UK.

With the weekend set to be a pleasant one bookmaker Ladbrokes has one again slashed odd on this month being the hottest September on record.

At 6/4 the firm are now offering record odds for the year that September 2018 is the hottest in British history.

Ladbrokes spokesperson Alex Apati said: “Chances of a record-breaking September have never been better with temperatures continuing to rise as the odds fall.”

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC ONE.
