Naga, 43, and her co-host Charlie, 56, were taking back the reigns on BBC Breakfast after the business segment of the show came to a conclusion.
Colette was explaining to BBC viewers about the online retailer Amazon and what the company was predicting ahead of the festive period.
Explaining the story, the reporter told her BBC colleagues and viewers at home people were not shopping on the high street as much. However, Amazon was predicting a slow down on sales ahead of Christmas as they take on their competitors.
However, as the reporter wrapped the segment, Charlie debated the issue of the word “minnow” Colette had used at the end of her report.
The business reporter said: “So I suppose it’s a case of Minnows, little tiny minnows tapping at the heels of the giant that is Amazon.”
Minnows are small fish, most commonly used by fisherman as bait when trying to lure prey to their line.
Before thanking Colette for her report, Naga added: “Well, we like the little people having a say don’t we? Too right,”
Charlie then intervened, picking up on the issue he had with Colette’s choice of language.
He told his colleagues: “There’s only one type of minnow really isn’t there? Small.”
Naga then quickly look around as she thought he was making a joke directed towards her, seemingly offended by Charlie’s comment.
Charlie began the story by telling the audience: “So, if you get a lovely clear night, you gaze up at the stars, maybe you can recognise some of the constellations.”
The presenter then told his co-host: “Everybody can name something,” which gave Naga the ammunition to grill Charlie.
Naga asked Charlie: “How many can you do?” with the presenter telling Naga he knew one.
Seemingly trying to deflect further questions, Charlie did his best to continue with the story as Naga continually asked: “Which one do you know Charlie?”
As Charlie gave in to Naga’s interrogation, the pair then went on to explain the new constellations viewers should look out for.
