BBC Breakfast: Steph McGovern ’shames’ Carol Kirkwood over THIS – 'Outrageous!'

This morning’s BBC Breakfast was hosted by Naga Munchetty and Steph McGovern as they delivered the latest news headlines across the nation.

But it wasn’t the news stories that grabbed the hosts’ attentions, instead the weather segment left the co-presenters in giggles.

Meteorologist Carol Kirkwood was reporting the day’s weather live from Christchurch beach in Dorset.

And as the studio hosts crossed over to her, the weather wasn’t what they were interested in talking about, rather the lack of footwear Carol had chosen, which led to Steph calling out Carol’s sartorial choice.

Naga began: “ Well, we’re on the beach with Carol this morning, look absolutely gorgeous that beach. And I’m glad to see you’ve hidden your feet after they were shamed by Steph on national telly.”

“Well have you seen them?” Steph remarked and Naga replied: ”No”.

And Carol commented: “I know – outrageous, the abuse you get on this show.”

It comes after an earlier segment with Carol on the beach, when Naga and Steph first realised the weather presenter had opted conduct her duties in no shoes .

“Do you know what i’ve spotted?” Steph asked, “She’s got no feet!” Naga said before correcting herself: “No shoes!”

“She’s got feet, she’s definitely got feet, but the flip flops have gone? replied Steph.

“It’s easier and also when you walk it’s flicking the sand up the back of your legs as well – it’s a good exfoliation experience I must say,” Carol explained.

And Naga was quick to defend Carol’s decision: “It’s the practicalities you see.”

However, Steph was left unimpressed and instead ’shamed’ Carol: “Yes, but have you seen Carol’s feet before?

“No I haven’t,” Naga remarked and Steph decided that was enough foot talk: “Alright we’ll leave that for later.”

But Naga hadn’t finished and viewers saw the spat continue as she joked: “Just cause your trotters are nicely covered up, you can’t foot shame Carol!”

BBC Breakfast fans were left with Steph saying: That’s a good point but I will. See you later Carol – love you,” until Naga remarked: “She doesn’t love you back.”

It follows yesterday’s BBC Breakfast business segment, reported by Ben Thompson, was seen on screen wearing a more casual attire than usual.

Reporting from outside the studios, the journalist had opted for beige shorts, navy polo and trainers.

His attire did not go unnoticed by those in the studio, when Charlie Stayt remarked: “I’ll issue another warning now, of a business presenter wearing shorts.”

And viewers at home were also jealous of Ben getting his legs out, especially in the heat the nation is experiencing, with many taking to Twitter to say they still had to wear suits.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
