BBC Breakfast: CHAOS as chat is gatecrashed by traffic cone prankster in gaffe-packed show

Paul Baxter, from Preston, was being interviewed by Naga and her colleague Charlie Stayt about his recent respiratory problems.

During a bronchoscopy, doctors found “something small and orange” at the bottom of his lungs, which turned out to be a minuscule Playmobil traffic cone.

The 50-year-old was stunned by the revelation and proudly showed off the tiny toy live on the BBC.

However, postman Paul didn’t expect his big moment on television to be interrupted by one of his work colleagues, but that’s exactly what happened when one of them paraded behind him wearing a traffic cone on his head.

Naga, 42, couldn’t stop laughing as she praised the humour of Paul’s colleagues, before concluding the interview before any more hijinks could take place.

The hilarious gaffe didn’t go unnoticed by BBC Breakfast viewers, who took to Twitter to joke about the postmen.

One wrote: “Comedy gold on #bbcbreakfast this morning! Colleague of man who inhaled toy traffic cone walking across background with cone on his head.”

Another added: “When you workmates own your TV moment describing having a toy traffic cone removed from your lung.”

A third joked: “Omg poor Paul! Think I may go and work at the Royal Mail though, they look like a right laugh! #orangetrafficcone #bbcbreakfast @BBCNews.”

Elsewhere in the show, Carol Kirkwood was stung by “gremlins” while she presented her weather bulletin.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays from 6am on BBC One.
