AFL stars have got behind the campaign to legalise same-sex marriage by speaking out in an online video.
Wearing Marriage Equality T-shirts, the players and former players voiced support for introducing gay marriage to Australia.
Former Melbourne and Carlton player Brock McLean says he supports marriage equality because he believes his gay sister “deserves the same marriage rights as everybody else”.
Essendon player Brendon Goddard said: “Everyone deserves to be who they truly are.”
St Kilda’s Tom Hickey added: “Everyone deserves a chance to love, everyone deserves to be happy.”
Former Hawkes’ player Steven Greene said: “Love should be celebrated by everyone.”
And former Melbourne and Collingwood player Chris Dawes said: “The fact that some people can’t marry the person that they love purely by virtue of the fact that they’re the same sex, is just outdated, and just unfair.”
The video was released on Facebook by Australian Marriage Equality.
