Zelda Breath of the Wild free DLC coming to Nintendo Switch THIS WEEK

owners will get a special Xenoblade Chronicles 2 surprise in Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild this week.

During the latest Direct conference, Nintendo announced that Breath of the Wild owners would be able to play a free Xenoblade Chronicles 2 side quest from November 9.

Available as a free update, the quest gives players the chance to unlock a Xenoblade costume for Link.

It’s also a way for Switch owners to familiarise themselves with one of the lesser known Nintendo franchises.

Nintendo explains: “To help familiarise fans with main character Rex before the game launches, a new Side Quest will be available via a free update in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, in which players will be able to obtain a Rex costume for Link.”

Nintendo also announced plans to release a Xenoblade Chronicles 2 season pass.

The expansion pass adds a new challenge battle mode, new items and a brand new side-story.

“Fans who want to expand their epic adventure can purchase an Expansion Pass for the game,” Nintendo announced.

“With this pass, players can enjoy DLC as it releases between launch and autumn 2018, starting with quests and support items, and eventually including a challenge Battle Mode where they can face powerful enemies, and even an additional adventure with a new side-story set in the world of Elysium.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which has a December 1 release date, is the direct sequel to the 2011 Nintendo Wii role-playing game.

It will launch alongside a brand new Nintendo Switch Pro Controller and a Collector’s Edition.

And the good news for Nintendo Switch owners doesn’t stop there.

Bandai Namco has announced plans to release three brand new exclusive games for the console in 2018.

According to a Wall Street Journal report (via Kotaku), Namco president Mitsuaki Taguchi said that the success of the Switch was something of a surprise.

Furthermore, the company plans to announce three new Nintendo Switch exclusives next year.
