The new teaser trailer was full of tantalising glimpses of what is to come.
Some of them, however, also show what has gone before as we get another look at the Forceback visions from The Force Awakens.
We have always thought that Kylo Ren had destroyed Luke’s Jedi students, but have we been mislead?
As the terrible truth behind what happened between Luke, Ben Solo and the First Order is revealed, are we seeing the end of Luke’s faith in the Jedi ways. Is this what he meant at the end of the new trailer?
One of the most shocking sights was a burning building with two familiar figures looking on.
This appears to be the reverse shot of a scene we saw in the Forceback vision Rey had at Maz Kanata’s castle in The Force Awakens where a cloaked figure hands R2-D2 a lightsaber.
We assumed this was Luke and now it seems we are seeing the moment when all his dreams of a new Jedi order went up in flames.
Even more shocking is the sight of Captain Phasma striding through the burning building.
Did Phasma and her First Order stormtroopers end the hopes of a Jedi rebirth?
There is no sign of Kylo Ren and his cloaked supporters. Are they also there or was the Forceback vision of him impaling a soldier from a different time entirely? It was raining heavily in that scene but not in the footage of the burning building.
Even more disturbingis the fact that Luke is just watching, not fighting.
Dd he abandon his school and students to their fate? Is this when he gave up on the Jedi?
Daisy Ridley also revealed today that Rey will be shocked and disillusioned by what Luke shows her. and the closing line of the new trailer is particularly ominous.
Luke says: “It is time for the Jedi to end.”
The Last Jedi really is more than just the name of the movie, it is the end of the Jedi altogether.
